A Home for the Village.
Our Vision
For a long time, I have dreamed of a place where women could come together.
Not only for a workshop or an appointment, but to sit around a table, share food, bring their babies, learn from one another, make things, rest, talk, cry, laugh and be with other women.
A place where girls could learn about their bodies from women they trust. Where mothers didn't have to do everything alone. Where grief could be spoken about openly, and women moving through menopause or elderhood were still deeply woven into the life of the community.
A place where different generations actually knew one another.
The more I have held women's spaces, the more I have realised how much we are missing this.
Our vision is to create a permanent Women's Centre, a physical home for the village we are beginning to rebuild.
Where it began…
In early 2026, I opened The Goddess Temple Brisbane, a small sanctuary for women to gather, connect and be held in community.
What I learned was simple: women need spaces to come together. But I also realised the vision was bigger than one woman, one space or one offering.
I wondered: what if we created something held by the community itself, a place where women, practitioners, mothers and elders could gather, contribute and belong?
The Goddess Temple Brisbane was a beginning.
Now, we are dreaming of the village.
What we are calling in…
We see the Women's Centre as a living community space where women and girls can come together throughout all stages of life.
There will be Red Tent circles, rites of passage ceremonies, workshops and gatherings, alongside education around menstruation, pregnancy, birth, motherhood, grief, menopause and elderhood. Practitioners could work from the space, giving women somewhere to find support and connect with people they trust.
We imagine mothers coming with their babies, girls learning about their bodies, women sharing skills and stories, and elders passing on what they have learned. There will be art, movement, writing, gardening, shared meals and simply somewhere to sit with a cup of tea and be with other women.
Most of all, we envision it to feel like a place you can belong to, somewhere different generations know one another and community becomes part of our everyday life again.
Why a physical space matters…
There is something different that happens when we have a place to return to.
A circle might bring women together for an evening, but a dedicated space allows relationships and community to grow over time. You begin to know the women who walk through the door. Children grow up knowing the space. Mothers return with their babies. Women become elders. Traditions begin to form, stories are remembered and community becomes something we live, rather than something we attend.
We want to create a place with roots; a community centre for women and girls that they know they can return to, again and again.
What we need to bring it to life
We are at the beginning, and there is a lot we don't know yet. We want the Women's Centre to grow with the community around it, rather than arriving as a finished idea.
Right now, we're looking for people who can help us take the next steps.
A home
A suitable space or property that could become a permanent home for the Women's Centre.
Funding
Donations, grants, sponsorship and philanthropic support to help us establish and sustain the space.
Partners
Organisations, businesses and community groups who believe in the vision and want to help us build it.
Practitioners & facilitators
Women who may one day offer their work, knowledge, gatherings and support through the Centre.
Skills & experience
People with experience in community development, grants, fundraising, property, governance, legal, design, gardens, hospitality and the many practical pieces involved in bringing a project like this to life.
The community
Most importantly, women who want this to exist and want to help shape what it becomes.
It takes a village to rebuild one.
